The MCX Gold Mini lot size is 100 grams, which is the fixed quantity of gold in one Gold Mini contract. MCX has four other gold futures contracts, from 1 kg down to 1 gram, so traders with very different budgets can trade the same gold price.
Quick answer: MCX gold lot size
One lot of Gold Mini (GOLDM) is 100 grams.
One lot of Gold (GOLD) is 1 kg.
One lot of Gold Ten (GOLDTEN) is 10 grams.
One lot of Gold Guinea (GOLDGUINEA) is 8 grams.
One lot of Gold Petal (GOLDPETAL) is 1 gram, the smallest gold contract on MCX.
Gold, Gold Mini and Gold Ten are quoted per 10 grams, so a ₹1 move changes one futures lot by ₹100, ₹10 and ₹1.

MCX Gold Futures Lot Sizes
Illustrative values assume the same price per gram for every contract. Actual prices can differ by contract, because Gold and Gold Mini are 995 purity while Gold Ten, Gold Guinea and Gold Petal are 999 purity, and expiries differ. Check the latest specifications on the MCX gold page. For other commodities, see our full MCX lot size table.
Gold Mini Lot Size (GOLDM)
The Gold Mini lot size is 100 grams. It is quoted per 10 grams, so one lot holds 10 quote units, and a ₹1 move changes one futures lot by ₹10.
Ten Gold Mini lots equal one standard Gold lot. Gold Mini contracts are listed every month and expire on the 5th. Gold Mini options, launched in April 2022, use the same 100 gram lot.
Gold Lot Size (GOLD)
The standard MCX Gold lot size is 1 kg. It is quoted per 10 grams, so one lot holds 100 quote units, and a ₹1 move changes one futures lot by ₹100.
Gold futures are listed every second month (February, April, June, August, October and December) and expire on the 5th. Gold options are monthly and use the same 1 kg lot.
Gold Ten, Gold Guinea and Gold Petal Lot Size
MCX’s three smallest gold contracts trade as futures only. All three expire on the last calendar day of each month.
Gold Ten Lot Size (GOLDTEN)
The Gold Ten lot size is 10 grams. MCX launched it on April 1, 2025. It is quoted per 10 grams, so a ₹1 move changes one lot by ₹1, and 10 Gold Ten lots equal one Gold Mini lot.
Gold Guinea Lot Size (GOLDGUINEA)
The Gold Guinea lot size is 8 grams. It is quoted per 8 grams, so a ₹1 move in the quoted price changes one lot by ₹1.
Gold Petal Lot Size (GOLDPETAL)
The Gold Petal lot size is 1 gram, the smallest on MCX. It is quoted per gram, so a ₹1 move changes one lot by ₹1.
How to Calculate the Value of 1 Lot of Gold
Work out how many quote units fit in one lot, then multiply by the price.
Gold Mini holds 10 units of 10 grams. At ₹1,40,000 per 10 grams, one lot is worth ₹14,00,000.
Gold holds 100 units of 10 grams, so one lot is worth ₹1,40,00,000 at the same price.
If gold rises by ₹100 per 10 grams across all contracts, a long futures lot gains ₹10,000 on Gold, ₹1,000 on Gold Mini, ₹100 on Gold Ten, ₹80 on Gold Guinea and ₹10 on Gold Petal. The same fall causes the same loss.
Contract value is not the money you pay. Here is what each amount means:
Check the estimated margin for a Gold or Gold Mini lot in the AlgoTest margin calculator, then confirm the requirement with your broker. Margin changes with volatility and can differ for intraday and overnight positions.

Which Gold Lot Size Fits You?
Gold Petal, Gold Guinea and Gold Ten need the least capital, but they trade as futures only.
Gold Mini is the smallest gold contract with options, so it suits option traders who want less exposure than standard Gold.
Standard Gold suits large accounts that are comfortable with a ₹100 change in P&L for every ₹1 move.
The smallest contracts can trade with less volume, so check liquidity and the bid-ask spread before you place an order.
Pick the size that keeps your loss on one trade within a fixed limit. Our guide to trading risk management rules shows how to set that limit.
MCX Gold Options Lot Size
MCX offers options on Gold and Gold Mini. One Gold option lot covers 1 kg, and one Gold Mini option lot covers 100 grams, the same as their underlying futures. Gold Ten, Gold Guinea and Gold Petal have no options.
Option premiums are quoted per 10 grams. If a Gold Mini call trades at ₹1,000 per 10 grams, one lot costs ₹1,000 × 10 = ₹10,000, and a Gold call at the same premium costs ₹1,00,000. Our option premium calculator guide explains what drives that price.
Option P&L follows the change in the premium, not the gold price one to one, so a ₹1 move in gold does not change an option lot by the futures amounts in the table.
Gold options are monthly and expire before their underlying futures. Gold Mini options expire three business days before the underlying futures enter their tender period, so pick your expiry with that date in mind.
In-the-money options held to expiry are normally exercised and turn into futures at the strike price, unless a contrary instruction is given through your broker. Those futures then carry delivery obligations.
Option sellers need margin, and buyers may need extra funds near expiry if their positions turn into futures.

Gold Expiry and Delivery on MCX
Gold and Gold Mini futures expire on the 5th of their expiry month, or the working day before if the 5th is a holiday or weekend.
Gold Ten, Gold Guinea and Gold Petal futures expire on the last calendar day of each month, with the same holiday rule.
Open gold futures positions held through expiry are subject to compulsory delivery.
All five contracts have a tender period before expiry, when delivery can be assigned. For Gold Ten, Gold Guinea and Gold Petal, it covers the last three trading days, including expiry day.
If you do not want physical gold, exit before the tender period starts. Many brokers close positions early, so check your broker’s cutoff.
Gold trades from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM or 11:55 PM, so the evening session overlaps with US market hours, when US data releases can move gold prices sharply.
